Frequently asked questions
Where exactly is your matcha sourced?
All our matcha is grown and stone-ground in Japan. We work exclusively with small-batch, independent family farms that have mastered the art of shade-growing tea leaves.
What makes "small-batch" matcha different from regular store-bought matcha?
Freshness and vibrancy. Mass-produced matcha often sits in warehouses for months, losing its color and flavor. Our "small-batch" approach means we source limited quantities to ensure the matcha you receive is as fresh as possible.
Do I need a bamboo whisk to prepare it?
While a bamboo whisk (chasen) is the traditional tool used to create that perfect, frothy layer, it isn't strictly necessary to enjoy the flavor. However, to experience the full ritual and the creamiest texture just like in the tea ceremonies in Japan we highly recommend using one. If you're on the go, a handheld electric frother works too!
How should I store my matcha to keep it fresh?
Matcha is sensitive to air, light, and heat. Once you open your Lucky Cat tin, we recommend resealing it tightly and storing it in the refrigerator. This preserves the delicate antioxidants and keeps that bright green color vibrant for as long as possible.
Will this matcha give me the jitters like coffee?
Likely not! Matcha contains caffeine, but it also contains L-theanine, an amino acid that promotes relaxation. This combination creates a state of "calm alertness"—a steady, focused energy boost without the crash or anxiety often associated with coffee. It’s the "joy and calm" we promise in every sip.
